Natural Bathroom Cleaning Tips
Everyone loves a clean bathroom and these days it doesn’t take too long to get it that way. However, in efforts to create a sparkling fresh environment it’s sometimes easy to get stuck in a rut using conventional cleaners, when there are some great natural alternatives.
If you want to try getting your home clean using natural, environmentally friendly products there are lots of different ways to do so. In this article we focus on three ingredients you almost certainly have at home and discuss ways to employ them in the service of a germ-free bathroom. We’re got info on everything you need from how to get rid of mould to how to clean a hairbrush!
1. Vinegar
While tasty on salads vinegar is actually great for cleaning. It has lots of different uses due to its acidic pH which makes it ideal for getting rid of nasty bacteria. When it comes to the bathroom one common use for vinegar is to freshen up glass and enamel surfaces. Mix one part vinegar to one part water and pour into a spray bottle. Spray liberally onto mirrors, shower doors and enamel then wipe clean using a micropore cloth. You can use your vinegar spray to clean not only the bathroom, but the beauty tools you keep in it, from makeup brushes to hair brushes. 2. Baking soda
Made a cake recently? Well, you’ve probably got baking soda in the cupboard and this is another wonder stuff when it comes to natural cleaning. The handy little powder is great for getting rid of dirt and grime. To use, mix with a small amount of cold water to create a thick paste. Apply liberally to grouting and other areas where dark marks have started to appear. Leave on for a few minutes then wipe away. As with all new cleaning techniques, however be sure to do a patch check first.
3. Lemon juice
Third up is lemon juice – not only will it bring a lovely citrusy smell to your bathroom, but it can also do some pretty impressive cleaning too. Like vinegar it’s the acidic nature of lemon juice that makes it such an effective dirt-busting agent. Squeeze out the juice of 2-3 lemons and apply to areas of mould. After a while it will start to break down the mould’s structure making it easy to remove.
There are lots more natural cleaning products you can use to get your bathroom sparkling clean. Try a few of these ideas then expand your repertoire to include things like salt and castile soap. Once you’ve used natural products a few times you’ll wonder why you ever needed anything else!
